On Friday 17th July, the new classroom building for nursery and
reception children, was opened by the School’s Chair of Governors. Many
parents, relations and friends joined the pupils on the sunny afternoon.
Four Rotarians attended the open-air ceremony which was preceded by a
welcome from Head Teacher, Mrs Joy Ingram; then followed a performance
by the school band and then the school choir. The high wind challenged
the instrumentalists to keep their music
sheets from blowing away.
Past President Anthony Chick then presented the RIBI Rotakids
Citation for Achievement to liaison teacher, Mrs Jill Parker, and then
Immediate Past President Bill Reading gave Mrs Ingram a cheque for £299, which was our contribution to
purchase a teacher’s desk for the new building.
The impressive wood
exterior framed building features underfloor heating and matching
chairs, cupboards, shelves and tables, in a very bright and airy
environment.
