First Carnforth Health Mela, Great Success!

Carnforth’s well on the way to becoming one of the healthiest town in Lancashire due to the awareness raising event held on Saturday, June 25th, when the town hosted its first ever ‘Health Mela’. This unique festival, modelled on the South Asian tradition of community fairs was dedicated to the celebration and promotion of community health and wellbeing.
The initiative was sparked by the former Rotary Cumbria and Lancashire District Governor, Kevin Walsh, who worked in partnership with the NHS Lancashire North Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Better Care Together and the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing. This dedicated team received enthusiastic support from the Head-teacher, staff and students of Carnforth High School and Carnforth Rotary Club. We give special thanks to Lyn Summers, Rotary Club of Lancaster Loyne, for the Risk Assessment, the ladies from Carnforth Inner Wheel who brewed Teas and coffees in the rather warm Gallery and the Carnforth Rotarians who did a splendid job directing cars for parking.

ROLL UP! ROLL UP!

These cheeky chaps look like they are up to no good.
I just hope they had lots of people winning coconuts, and keeping them busy, at The Carnforth Sports Day.
Remember to look out for them at Carnforth Carnival and the Health Mela. Both events are going to be great fun.

What a Difference a Goal Net (or two) Makes.

Carnforth Rotary Club donated money to Warton Warrior Football Club, for new goal nets.

" A big Thankyou to Carnfoth Rotary for their kind donation to our club Warton Warriors. This will enable ourselves to host 2 matches next season when we have our under 7's starting competitive matches along with the older teams.  We are only a small club with a big heart and community spirit and this donation really will help. Thankyou."

Carnforth Rotary Club Supports the Police Cadets.

John Blowes, Treasurer of Carnforth Rotary Club donating a cheque to Phil Spencer for the Police Cadets.

" The difference this will make to our cadets is incredible. The cadets have to fund themselves and to receive such a significant amount will enable us to take the cadets to places they may never have been and have experiences that they won't forget. We have a fantastic relationship with Carnforth Rotary and we are really grateful for the support."
Phil Spencer ( Cadet Commander Lancaster and Morecambe Unit)
