Carnforth Sponsors its 18th Annual Young Musician Competition

Carnforth Rotary Club held its 18th annual Young Musician competition last Saturday at North Road Primary school, Carnforth. Twenty-two entrants competed in three age groups – Group A under 12; Group B, over 11 and under 15 and Group C over 14 under 19. The judges were Sylvia Ham and Clive Walkley who provided helpful and informative comments for each of the performers. The piano accompanist was Mike Critchlow There was a good attendance from parents, friends and teachers. The top three competitors from each group will be invited to perform in Carnforth Rotary Club’s “Music for a Summer’s Evening” concert held at the Priory. Lancaster at the end of June.
Group A: 1st Lawrence Diffey, (Flookburgh Cof E Primary) – piano; 2nd Eloise Ozanne, (Allithwaite Primary) – treble recorder; 3rd Edmund Hui, (Grange CE Primary) – piano.
Group B 1st Faye Anna Bowness – (QES) – voice; 2nd Alistair Burton, (QES) – piano and 3rd Daisy Pollitt, (LGGS) – voice
Group C 1st Molly Olivia Faulkner, (Chethams) – violin; 2nd Jenifer Morphet, (Durham University) – flute; 3rd Jayne Potter, (Queen Katherine School) – voice
