On Tuesday 17 March, a third defibrillator was officially
handed over by Carnforth Rotary Club President Bill Reading to the villagers
living in Bolton-le-Sands.
The new defibrillator was donated by members of
Carnforth Rotary Club and was jointly funded by a grant from Rotary
International District 1190 Cumbria and Lancashire.

The new defibrillator is located outside Brookfield Surgery
and was accepted by Dr David Wrigley, Senior Partner and Linda Bowker, Senior
Manager from Ashtrees Surgery, Carnforth.
A
defibrillator is an extension to Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and has
significantly increased heart attack survival rates. The machines are simple and
safe to use, giving clear spoken instructions. No training is required and once
in position, the defibrillator detects the heart's rhythm and won't deliver a
shock unless one is needed.
The other
two machines are located inside the SPAR shop in the Village and is available
from 06.00 to 22.00hrs daily and outside the Community Centre in the Village in
a coded weather proof housing which is like the one outside the surgery is
available 24 hours per day via a key code which will be given on phoning the North
West Ambulance Service (NWAS) via a 999 call.
