Young Chef Competition

The competition, which took place on Saturday 5th March at Kendal College, was brilliant with superb dishes prepared by the kids. Lakeland provided not only generous cash prizes but Sam Rayner, (High Sheriff) brought a selection of cookery books which were given to the candidates who did not receive cash prizes. The food firm McClures supplied every entrant with aprons and jackets. The venue was excellent – modern equipment, plenty of assistance provided by the College and experienced judges. Finally, I’m delighted to say that our own District 1190’s 13 year old Jane Rooke, from Penwortham Academy sponsored by South Ribble Rotary Club, won through and moves on to the National Final at Lincoln on Saturday 16th April.
