Young Musician Competition

The Young Musician Competition took place on Saturday 19th March at North Rd., Community Primary School. The competition was very well attended with 37 contestants and many more supporters.

The extremely talented youngsters, from Year 2 in primary up to Sixth Form, played a wide range of instruments to an immensely high standard. The instruments were: piano, recorder, descant recorder, violin, guitar, classical guitar, harp, flute and trumpet. There were also several vocalists who sang across a varied spectrum of songs in a very professional manner. The fourth category was for duets, who performed a magnificent grand finale.

Well done to all who took part, it was a fabulous day. The photos are a small selection of those taken on the day.

Our thanks go to the adjudicators; Mr Clive Walkley and Mrs Sylvia Ham, the accompanist; Mr Michael Critchlow, Rotarian Bill Ham for helping, the Mayor of Carnforth, Malcolm Watkins, who presented the prizes.

Thank you to the Headmaster and governors of North Road Community Primary School for the use of the school, the Full Octave (Dalton-in-Furness) for providing the piano; Bay View Garden Centre for the flowers; E H Booth Ltd for the refreshments and the Elizabeth and Richard Wilson Trust for financial support.

We would also like to thank everyone who helped with the catering and members of Carnforth Rotary Club and friends, who stewarded the event.
